Standard Chartered Hong Kong aims for stablecoin issuance and plans to apply for a license soon.
According to Hong Kong Radio - Finance Report, Standard Chartered's CEO for Hong Kong and Greater China and North Asia, Mary Huen, stated that the group is studying the new stablecoin-related documents published by the Monetary Authority and aims to submit an application as soon as the "Stablecoin Ordinance" comes into effect.
She pointed out that the consortium formed by Standard Chartered and its partners has participated in the stablecoin issuer "sandbox" and is focused on exploring opportunities in the Hong Kong dollar market. Huan Huiyi believes that the new regulatory framework helps balance risks, maintains an open attitude towards business solutions, and is confident that digital assets will play an important role in the financial system in the future.
