Cosmos pauses EVM plans on Hub to reassess future path
On July 16, Cosmos shared its product updates and future plans for this year. The team stated that it will suspend plans to launch the EVM platform on the Cosmos Hub and will reevaluate the related path, but will continue to invest in the Cosmos EVM L1 stack to support builders in launching independent EVM chains.
The team claims that the EVM plan provides a promising and unique role for Hub in the Cosmos ecosystem. The future virtual machine (VM) or Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) upgrades may still unlock new services or onboarding paths, therefore, the team is willing to reassess this approach while continuously understanding the needs of institutions and L1 builders.
